Call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately.
Do not use FreeAir Coach in place of emergency medical care. If you are experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath, signs of a stroke, severe withdrawal symptoms, suicidal thoughts, or any other medical emergency, seek immediate medical attention.
FreeAir Coach Is Not Medical Care
FreeAir Coach LLC ("FreeAir Coach") provides a digital wellness application focused on smoking cessation. The Service is designed for educational and motivational purposes only.
FreeAir Coach is not:
- A medical device or medical treatment
- FDA-approved as a smoking cessation therapy
- A substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- A substitute for nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) or prescription cessation medications
- A clinical service or telemedicine platform
- A means to obtain prescriptions or medical referrals
Use of the Service does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, or any other professional relationship between you and FreeAir Coach LLC, Dr. Eskender Beyene, or any other affiliated party.
Dr. Beyene's Role
Dr. Eskender Beyene, MD is a board-certified pulmonologist and the founder of FreeAir Coach. His role with FreeAir Coach is as the founder, clinical content advisor, and product designer — not as your treating physician.
Dr. Beyene's clinical practice at Washington Metro Sleep Institute is entirely separate from FreeAir Coach. Using FreeAir Coach does not make you a patient of Dr. Beyene or his practice.
Educational content within the Service is informed by Dr. Beyene's clinical experience treating patients with smoking-related lung disease, but is presented as general wellness information, not personalized medical advice.
Consult Your Physician
We strongly recommend consulting your physician or a licensed healthcare provider before beginning any smoking cessation effort, especially if you have underlying health conditions or take medications. Quitting smoking is a major change to your physiology, and your doctor can help you maximize your chances of success.
You should consult a qualified healthcare provider:
- Before starting or stopping nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, lozenges, inhalers, or sprays)
- Before starting prescription cessation medications such as varenicline (Chantix) or bupropion (Zyban)
- If you have a history of cardiovascular disease, recent heart attack, stroke, or arrhythmia
- If you have asthma, COPD, emphysema, or other chronic lung conditions
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant
- If you have a history of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other mental health conditions
- If you have a history of alcohol or substance use disorders
- If you are under 18 years of age (note: FreeAir Coach is not intended for minors)
- If you experience severe withdrawal symptoms, including chest pain, palpitations, severe insomnia, or significant mood changes
- Before making any change to your existing medication regimen
Nicotine Replacement and Medication Warnings
FreeAir Coach does not prescribe, recommend, or sell nicotine replacement products or smoking cessation medications. Any information about NRT, varenicline, bupropion, or other cessation aids in the Service is general educational content only.
Cessation medications and NRT can cause side effects, drug interactions, and adverse reactions. Critical considerations include:
- Varenicline (Chantix): May cause neuropsychiatric symptoms including changes in mood, agitation, depression, or suicidal thoughts. Requires physician supervision.
- Bupropion (Zyban/Wellbutrin): Contraindicated in seizure disorders, eating disorders, and certain other conditions. Requires prescription and physician oversight.
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy: Generally safe when used as directed, but can cause skin reactions, nausea, jaw pain, or sleep disturbances. Caution in pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, and uncontrolled hypertension.
- Combination Therapy: Combining different cessation aids (e.g., patch + gum) requires medical supervision.
- E-cigarettes/Vaping: Not recommended as a cessation strategy due to evolving safety data; consult your physician.
Do not start, stop, or change any medication based on information from FreeAir Coach. Always work with your healthcare provider.
Limitations of the AI Coach
The FreeAir Coach AI Coach is powered by Anthropic's Claude AI and is grounded in clinical reference materials selected by Dr. Beyene. While extensively designed to provide useful coaching, the AI Coach has important limitations:
- The AI may make errors. AI-generated responses can contain inaccuracies, omissions, or out-of-date information. Verify important information with a qualified healthcare provider.
- The AI is not a doctor. The AI Coach cannot examine you, order tests, prescribe medications, or make medical diagnoses. Its responses are educational and motivational, not clinical.
- The AI does not replace emergency services. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. Do not rely on the AI Coach in emergencies.
- The AI cannot detect deterioration. The AI may not recognize warning signs of serious medical conditions, mental health crises, or dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
- The AI is bound by its training. The AI's knowledge has a cutoff date and may not include the most current research, drug information, or clinical guidelines.
- The AI does not have access to your medical records. The AI knows only what you tell it. It cannot integrate with your electronic health record, lab results, or imaging.
Mental Health Considerations
Nicotine withdrawal can cause significant mood changes, including irritability, anxiety, depression, and difficulty concentrating. For most people, these symptoms are temporary. For some, they can be severe.
If during your quit journey you experience:
- Persistent or worsening depression
- Suicidal thoughts or thoughts of self-harm
- Severe anxiety or panic attacks
- Hallucinations, delusions, or other unusual experiences
- Significant changes in sleep, appetite, or energy lasting more than 2 weeks
- Inability to function in daily life
Stop relying on FreeAir Coach alone and contact a healthcare provider or mental health resource immediately. The crisis resources at the bottom of this page are available 24/7 and free.
Not for Use by Minors
FreeAir Coach is intended for adults age 18 and older who are seeking to quit smoking. The Service is not designed for, marketed to, or appropriate for use by minors.
If you are under 18 and want to quit smoking or vaping, please:
- Talk to a parent, guardian, or trusted adult
- Speak with your pediatrician or family physician
- Contact your state's youth tobacco quitline (often accessible by texting "QUIT" to 47848)
- Visit teen.smokefree.gov — a free resource designed specifically for teens
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your obstetrician or midwife before using any smoking cessation aids, including NRT. While quitting smoking is one of the most important things you can do for your pregnancy, the safety of various cessation methods during pregnancy requires individualized medical guidance.
FreeAir Coach can provide motivational support and behavioral coaching during pregnancy, but it is not a substitute for prenatal medical care.
Results Are Not Guaranteed
Smoking cessation is difficult. Most people who successfully quit smoking try multiple times before they succeed. FreeAir Coach is designed to support your quit journey, but:
- We do not guarantee that you will quit smoking using FreeAir Coach
- We do not guarantee that you will not relapse
- Individual results vary widely
- Statistics about quit rates from clinical research are population-level data, not predictions about your individual outcome
Slips and relapses are part of the quitting process for many people. They are not failures — they are opportunities to learn what triggers your smoking and to refine your quit strategy.
Testimonials and Success Stories
Any testimonials, reviews, or success stories on the Service or our website reflect the experiences of individual users. They are not typical, not guaranteed, and should not be interpreted as average or expected results. Your experience may differ significantly.

Health Claims Disclaimer
Statements made within the Service or on our website regarding the benefits of smoking cessation are based on widely accepted public health research (e.g., the Surgeon General's Reports, CDC publications, peer-reviewed clinical literature). Specific claims about FreeAir Coach's efficacy:
- Are based on aggregate research about smoking cessation interventions, AI-assisted coaching, CBT, and behavioral health technology generally — not specific clinical trials of FreeAir Coach
- Should not be interpreted as guarantees of individual outcomes
- Are not endorsed or evaluated by the FDA
- Do not constitute claims that FreeAir Coach can diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease
If you see a specific statistic on our marketing site (such as "30% higher quit rates with AI coaching"), it refers to general research findings about that category of intervention, not specifically to FreeAir Coach's measured performance.
